There's some obviously faulty logic in your premise. Ppl who do believe it's ossur will not want to give the impression that it's ok (or more ok) with such a solution.

that doesn't explain what he said or the fact that he didn't invite lubavitch just because they won't show up doesn't mean they should not be invited if they should be part of it (as a part of klal yisroel which that's who the asifa is for)

Serious about internet issues?....1.5 million dollars that could've gone into contracting out highly trained professionals, set ups of school curriculums, adult seminars, teacher training etc. etc. Instead - some worthless screaming and yelling...from a few people trained on knowing whether my pots are traif....for one fleeting night.

Out of curosity, were any Rabbanim who would be considered part of the MO world invited? How about those in between the different worlds (R. Shechter at YU comes to mind)?
Or are they all considered outside to begin with?

But I would say that what they are trying to accomplish by having one major gathering so it comes across as a strong point, and shows the importance of this matter when it is such a great gathering ...
