To sum it up in a few words:
iphone means to have a very good phone with some extras.
Android means to have everything in your pocket including a phone.

For me a good phone needs to have a removeable battery.

The idea of not being able to carry spares when I'm traveling, having to have it physically plugged to the wall ever, and having the battery built-in start losing charging power eventually make for a poor excuse for a phone, though a fine iPod.

Amazing that they still don't have 4G yet as well.

Though I prefer a phone that gets me through the day without having to switch batteries.

That's called a Palm Centro :D

Obviously I would like a battery like the DroidRazrMaxx, but I'd rather have the GNex and have to switch the battery once to give me the flexibility to have spares and not to have to tether it to a wall.

Yeah I miss the good ole days where phones would last you a couple days.

Meanwhile my Motorola Photon lasts me through the day ... so even though it's a bit fat for todays standards I'll take it. (Plus I get the added perk of having  a GSM/CDMA phone.)

According to many polls consumers would rather have a thinner phone, than having good battery life.
But personally-  I wish the companies would start focusing more on battery life!!

Because its so easy to switch batteries I like that its thin. Although if there was a way to get better service I would not mind if my phone was double as thick. Wonder if they will ever do that. A phone that gets twice as many bars as any other phone albeit twice the size...

Nah 4g is probably better in NYC actually. I am talking about being in basements, or in the middle of an apartment building etc... And just in general twice the internet speed.

I agree about the bummer of a non removable battery. I'm about to jump into that world myself with the Evo 4G LTE, however making a choice between that phone and the iphone is a no brainer for anyone, that phone is an ANIMAL to say the least.
Furthermore, I would choose it over other Android devices with removable battery and it seems like our very own tech genius would as well..
Life is all about decisions.. Just like the one you made
That's called a Palm Centro :D
However you decided to switch for a reason...

If you sit at a desk all day then plugging a phone into a wall is no big deal.
But if I'm out and about in a city using the excellent walking GPS and maybe listening to some music, making phone calls, and browsing the web, I want to be able to carry spares and not have to worry about tethering to a wall.

Android may be the way to go but you still have to pick a good solid phone. That's one thing about Android. Some of the phones STINK. Others are great.

True. I guess it all depends on the owner's needs.
I hope the 2000 mAh battery makes some kind of a difference, and then we always have instant USB chargers as well..

GNex is 1,850 MAh.  8% more is not going to help with heavy usage to get you through a whole day.

Guess we'll just have to rely on the instant USB then.
It'll be worth it in any case!

May be something small, but imho, you can't beat the google voice integration and Swype on Android

First I need to decide on the type of service. Next, i'll worry about the phone. Decisions, decisions........

VZW still has the 4GB promo going on, which is pretty much unlimited.
