i highly doubt it.
it has to go through spirit incentives and they only offer tickets for sale, not points.

btw this companion ticket is for each card holder, once per year. the card holder has to be on of the people flying

they also have 15% off flights (pre tax)
u can use this on domestic or international, as many times as u want.
u can use it for yourself and up to another 3 people on the same reservation

How did I miss this:
https://online.citibank.com/US/JRS/helpcenter/getHelpContent.do?contentType=help_item&dispFormat=main&contentId=ComplimentaryCompanionTravel
www.thankyoucompanion.com

Does anyone know if it works using thankyou points?

It says you have to purchase through Spirit Incentives (not to be confused with Spirit Airlines), sounds like a no-go.

Works using cash. Basically worthless since all their ticket prices are double the regular fare, so with the free companion you end up flat.

They should get hit with a false advertising lawsuit...

I don't think it's false advertising, they are giving you a free ticket. Just so happens to be that they charge double what everyone else charges.

You don't find that to be misleading?

That's corporate america. Maybe it's a cause the occupy movement should take up, hey, for once it'll be a legitimate cause.

Reminds me of the coupon that used to come with the SPG card for x% off the rack rate. That rate seemed to always be much higher than the other rates that could be booked.

But at least they're telling you it's off rack rates.

I have found the exact opposite.  I booked a RT ticket MSY to ORD and saved about $300 off of the lowest available fare (total for two).  A month later I booked a RT non-stop flight MSY-SFO (the one non-stop flight offered) and saved about $400 for two - this was booked using the companion ticket for my wife as an AU on my card.  At the time, the base fare of the ticket was marked up by 15-25%, but there are still some amazing values with the companion ticket.

In my experience, the companion ticket is one of the most valuable credit card benefits out there.  There is some additional informative discussion on the companion ticket from page 6 on on this flyertalk thread:

Sure, but Joe Schmoe has no idea what rack rates are. You assume that a coupon is a coupon.

Smart companies realize that misleading their loyal customers isn't a good strategy in the long term.

its not an absolute free ticket, but it def saves you money

right now i am looking for a lax-jfk round trip.
regular prices are $410 a ticket.
with their companion ticket it would be $550 for both
issue is, they only have a few options and the times are not good for me

Can anyone here verify that any authorized user also has the ability to buy a ticket with a free companion as well?
The rep said no. I was hoping she was wrong.
