Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

+1 IME, Freedom, BA, and United (non signature) were easier.

My new BA card is a Signature
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

I bought Vanilla reloads and cashed them out. Whats the best way to pay my Amex bill without depositing the cash? I always did it for chase cards and paid the bill right there at the branch.....

My sister is flying with her kids on US Airways. What's the best way to get into the lounges in PHL?

Also, any chance they will let her in with an expired day pass?
Amex plat.

Probably won't work.

FYI: I had a pass for the UA club that expired 12/30 and they wouldn't let me use it on 12/31.

I just learned that Domestic Business doesn't get you into United Club.

How often per month you use it does not affect your credit score.  The most important things is to make sjre it is PAID OFF BEFORE the statement closes.

There is a thread dedicated to helping out credit card beginners. You can try posting there.
In short
1 Use your card (make sure there is some credit used when the statement closes)
2 Pay on time
3 Dont use a large percentage of your available credit

Although the bank likes to see usage, having a small balance at closing does not improve your credit score, more than having a zero balance.  CMIIW

So which one is it? Pay it off completely? Or leave some on?

Leave some on before statement closes. Pay it off completely before it's due.
