Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

I am new to this and was looking into signing up for a new credit card. Would you still recommend the 2BM/3BM pull? Which cards would you recommend I apply for? My main objective is to accumualte miles with the most cash calue (like Chase reward points .017).

It depends, if you have no credit or almost none, then it's best to apply for one store card or secured card. If you have some credit then maybe...

What is the length of your credit history?
Do you have any previous cards open already?

Depends how good credit history is and how risky (always a slight chance to get multiple pulls if stuff goes wrong) you want to be but try at least 2bm as the pros definitely beat the cons...

It's more of a personal preference, remember that Chase 2/3bm more often will pull twice if combining business and personal, and Amex more often will pull once.
Read above thread's wiki for a quick breakdown...

Hi DDF,
I'm a long time lurker here and learned a lot reading this forum. Now I finally have a question to ask.
I hope someone here can help me.

I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred MasterCard for over a year now and I just got billed the first annual fee of $95.

I remember Dan posted somewhere that if I switch from MC to Visa it will automatically waive the fee for another year.
Now my question is: can I do it now and they'll automatically reverse the fee or I missed the boat and I should've done so before the charge the fee?

Thanks in advance

Mesh

Welcome to the forums!

I think it YMMV, though you could have them downgrade it to a non preferred or Freedom card and probably get it back.

You are better off applying for a new SP Visa so you get the signup bonus instead of attempting to switch it.
I only paid 15% by switching to dansdeals

Thanks, not in the mood applying for more cards at the moment.
Let me email Jamie and hope he'll take care of my fee.
