Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

What does "no first class" mean?

They have business first. I've gotten it for 120 quite a few times. A nice ride.

Or you can use 62.5k FB or AM miles one way.

I am not new here, but wasn't very clear about receiving mileage for flying.
I am flying with Usairways and was wondering if I can credit my flight to United and how?

Yes. You can call up US and give them your number. You can probably also change it online.

My ff # for united would be mileage plus account #?
And how many miles do I receive - the amount of miles I fly?

I have been using a Chase Freedom card for the past couple of years since I heard it was a valuable card given no annual fee and solid UR points.  I heard that if you open a Chase Sapphire Preferred card you can use all of your UR points into miles or hotel points to get a better value on them.  If I get the card do I need to use the card after the intial spending requirements to get the bonus?  I may get better value using my Freedom receiving Exclusives (grandfathered).  Is it worthwhile to get even though there is a $95 annual fee attached.  Looking for thoughts and comments.

Thanks,

Yes, What you fly. Though i believe if you are paying for a higher class ticket you can possibly get more points.

Thanks,
Once you hit the spend, you will get the bonus. For certain things it may be worthwhile to use your SP. Fee is waived first year and can work on getting it waived after first year.

How are LOT Airlines?
I see a NYC-TLV flight on dates that work for me for pretty cheap.

Which plane?

If its the 787 I would fly them. I flew it in business and had a great flight. Economy looks fairly good as well. Now if it is the 767, I would stay away.

8h 20m on Boeing 787
3h 55m on Embraer RJ-195
4h 5m on Boeing 737
9h 30m on Boeing 787
All in coach.

Not without a terrible loss on a site like points.com

The general rule is that airline and hotel (exc. SPG) points aren't transferable, while the main points programs (MR, UR, SPG) are.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.
