No. Avios can only be used to book BA partners

Last I saw, MR was 1.6. What is your vpp for UR nowadays?

Buy any cost free GC at Staples that you would actually use (Amazon, Starbucks)

Pay cell phone bill, internet bill.

I got 5x for GoDaddy spend as well.

I tried posting a comment on the DD.com post about the Delta card but I guess I was late and it's old news now.

A Promo came in the mail for Gold Delta AMEX w/ 50k miles bonus for $1,000 spent in 3 months, referencing my recent Delta purchase and the miles it would accrue (another 2,600 for LA). We plan to travel with carry-ons only, and are already in Economy Comfort seating which includes priority boarding. The in-flight purchase discount is nothing to write home about by itself.

I don’t do a lot of travel (...yet? still a noob), but would like to go to Israel at some point soon. Is it worth signing up for the card for the miles, as bad as Skymiles are?

If I go for it, can I move the miles somewhere more useful, or redeem them constructively, even domestically? The Delta site lists redemption categories of "Saver", "Standard" and "Peak" on the Awards Chart but I could not find an explanation for which applies when. What can I expect in fees when redeeming Skymiles?

Unless you have other cards that are better for applying for then I'd do it. It's good to have miles in all carriers. That's my thought anyways. Personally I get good use out my skymiles. They're nowhere near as easy to use as United or American etc but I think they still have some good value. Especially for those that are flexible.
Thought don't rely on them getting you to Israel.

@sky121 Thanks so much for the quick reply. I'm just getting into all this, but yes, I expect to have better cards reward-wise, but 50k miles seemed pretty good for the $1,000 requirement. With your encouragement I think I will go for it.

Is Mileage Booster ever appropriate? Delta lets you buy miles when you fly, on top of your flight. It doesn't count toward Medallion status, but at $59/3,000 miles on each leg, if I used the AMEX Gold Skymiles card, that would be $68 ($50 statement credit) for 6,236 miles, or just under 1.1 cents/mile, assuming I did the math right.
