Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

huh?  First you said make sure the airline allows it then you said the airline might track him down. If they allow it why would they track him down?  ???
They might wanna know who someone on the forum is regardless of this transaction.
And the airlines will hit u even if u only do things that are allowed. A few stories here + the AA AirPass thread.

BA.com will take you right to AA.com to checkin/print, but it will save you looking for your AA PNR on checkmytrip

When renting a car, you have the option to purchase LI (liability) insurance from the rental agency. They usually charge between $12-$17 a day.

If the renter declines that insurance,  and is then in an accident ch"v, if he is at fault, what happens?

FWIU There is liability on the car bec legally every vehicle needs liability in order to be on the road. - Its just that the rental agency will charge you a heavy "deductible" (e.g. $3000) for using their insurance .

Is this correct?

(Btw I've rented cars many times and I almost always pay for LI bec I don't have a clear answer to this question)

Any input is appreciated.  Thanx

Yes and no. At times yes, at times no.

Do you mind explaining what would be in each scenario?

When booking a RT ticket with BA miles on AA there is a $58 tax charge.

Is that the same for a OW? I remember seeing that its only charged for RT. I'm on a mobile now so I can't check. Can anyone confirm?  Thanx

(Flight in question is JFK-YYZ)

I don't see why this thread is a b00bie thread.
Most questions, especially HeloMe's, are really grown up questions.
(Dan didn't even know to answer one of HeloMe's questions).

I PM'd Dan and AsherO but never get a response so I will post here and maybe someone can answer me.
I have to pay my car insurance and would like to open a new credit card to get some benefit from it. I was thinking of opening the Ink card but I don't have a business per se. On all the other business cards I've opened (SPG, AMEX, citibusiness) they just asked a few questions but did not ask for a TIN. If I just put my SS# do you think that would be sufficient? Also how would I be able to get the old 5K minimum spending threshold? IS ink bold the best card to apply for? (I already have the SP) Also is there a link for sending a SM to chase? I'm not sure exactly how to do that.

Freudian slip? :P

Good idea :D

SP (as in sole proprietorship) using your SSN will work for Ink Bold, they might have questions about your business, so have your story prepared. I don't know if you'll be able to match to the $5k spend threshold, but you can try via SM once you're approved. Ink is a good signup bonus card, and pretty good for spend too.

why would you PM them and not just ask where anyone can answer?

+1

Because I read searched through all the posts and could not find an answer and was afraid to post without someone yelling at me that I should read all the posts. When I found this thread I decided to take the leap and post it.
