Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

True enough. I  have just noticed that sometimes someone with a low post count gets jumped on even when saying something correct and reasonable
They that person should come out swinging.
I just found a new supply of forks!

Looking to book a hotel in nyc using either spg points or Hyatt points.  What type of value should I use as a minimum when using either type of currency when comparing to just paying on my cash?

In fact, when ChaimMoskowitz had a low post count he definitely got jumped on for being a noob. Was told to basically shut up and not contradict those who had been around longer.

i am going to close chase sp but will call retention first on the off chance that they will give me a retention bonus.
If I want to open a new card rather than move the cl to an old card should I move the cl first to an old card and then open a new card online or can I directly close the sp with the retention department and open a new card immediately while I am on the phone with retention.  If I open a new card with retention will I get the best opening bonus available?

If you would prefer a retention bonus (though it's unlikely to work) call and ask if one's available.
If not and you want to apply for a new card (and are worried they don't want to give you more credit), first apply for a new card and then on recon offer to close the CSP to open the new card. That's better than moving CL.
If you were planning on getting a new CSP, you should close the card before reapplying.

I have some Visa GCs that I got in the staples amex offers.  I have about $11 left on one, for some reason it got declined at the register when I tried to split the bill into two cards.  Any ideas why that would happen and anyone have creative ways of cashing out the GC?  (Besides bluebird, Redcard, etc.)

Thanks,

Maybe there is a pending balance from a temporary hold
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Looking for a way to pay my (chase) mortgage and ear miles for it.
Is the best way to do this through Evolve Money?

Best way is through a Target RedCard

Having trouble finding them at local Target....they've been sold out.
Was thinking of using Chase INK to buy VISA GC at staples and then unloading the GC to EvolveMoney to pay that way thuse earning 5 UR points per dollar

Keep in mind you can only make one payment per month per biller. So unless your mortgage is $200, those VGC from Staples aren't going to go very far. Better off buying a RC off someone

As said in the last few posts- not Evolve. RedCard or Bluebird or Serve.  Read the wiki in the thread about each.  Read Dans write up making a comparison.

Does UA business get first bag free? Does it matter if it is an award or paid ticket?
