Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

can you +100 your own post?

Was just trying to confirm the +100 with the fact that I wish for the same thing as illustrated by my earlier post. :)

Opening a new tab is very time consuming if I want to respond to 10 people in 1 post. It's a shame "insert quote" only works for the last 15 posts.
I open a Word document.  'quote' the post I want.  copy it into word. back arrow to the DDF page and 'quote' the next guy. etc.  When I have it all, I copy the whole Word page, and past into the reply box.

Don't need word. Use middle mouse click to open a new tab, replying to the first quote you want to include. Then go back to the other tab, and one at a time, quote the other posts you want, copy and paste to your new tab, and then go back to the thread and do the next one.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

You're right.  I have word on my computer bottom bar and use it to take notes as I'm working the computer.  So for me it seemed like the way to go, but your way cuts out 1 set of cut/paste.

I'm not a total beginner but I have been saving up points for a while in multiple accounts and want to start planning something.

Is there a specific thread that talks about the best way to apply points?

Ex. I want to do a 4 day R/T flight out of NYC to somewhere tropical. What are my best options?

There has to be a fairly specific thread about this..

I hope you've arrived at the airport and have checked into your flight.  If you do arrive too close to board, they should put you on the next flight without a charge ** if there's room on it**. Or the one after that.
Good luck.

It's called the flat tire rule. I learned about it on DDF.  ;)

But Theodorel is new here and sounds quite worried.  I hope things turn/turned out well for him.

One time I arrived ridiculously close to the flight and the next flight out was not gonna work,  she wasn't gonna let me on but she said "your charedi, your gonna find a way to push yourself on anyways so I'll just do it for you"

;D ;D ;D That's an amazing observation. You should write a sociology thesis on that.

That is awesome
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.
