Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

Looks like 5 transactions have to total 2k and do that 5 times.

Thats what the text implies. But the image seems to say spend 2k in a MINIMUM of 5 transactions.
That makes more sense.
They want 2k, and they want you to use the card at least 5 times.

Whatever a bit confusing, should just wait for for the regular 100k offer.

Pshat in the text is that they are showing how easy it can be. Only 2k and only 5 purchases. That is the quickest possible. But you can do it over more purchases.

It looks like they want you to do 5 transactions equaling to 2k, and repeating that another 4 times.

Do you directly profit from it? (personal question. Not that I would necessarily have an issue with that.) Is it in direct competition with Dan in some sort of way? (probably the real question here)

hey yall, i just graduated from the birds and bought my first MO. im starting with 1k but was wondering if anyone could answer a few noob questions for me (i'm trying to liquidate 5k above and beyond the RB and BB in the next month or so):

1. what is a safe limit to deposit into my bank account without raising any red flags? 1k a month? 5k month?
2. do you have a separate bank account you only do MOs in just in case there is an issue with your main bank account? it would definitely be a headache if my main bank account was flagged
3. do you ever get questioned why are u using MOs when u deposit them
4. any experience with using MO to go directly in bank to pay off cc bills? like go into chase (where i dont have a bank account) with an MO to pay off my cc? bad idea? or good idea to spread out the MO deposits?

The first one i applied for was the southwest card and the second was usaa college card. I called for reconsideration on the ussa card but they said since it was a computer responce they cant change it.

Try reconsideration on the southwest and if they say no HUCA

that is what I saw quoted by Dan, but when I went to the app pg: https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/marriott-credit-cards.aspx
it says:ANNUAL FREE NIGHT STAY*
You'll receive a free night stay in a category 1-5 hotel each year after your account anniversary.
which sounds like it is only after a year of having the card- is that not true?

Probably mainly depends on your bank. I usually deposit 2-5k at a time at the atm of my bank and I'm sure there are banks where you can do a a lot more - possibly even mine (Webster). As far as your concern of having your main account shut down, you might as well open another account so then you don't have to worry about it. You have nothing to lose, and peace of mind and a possible checking account bonus to gain.
