Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

Two months ago I got a college credit card from my bank with a score of 634. What is my next step to building credit/getting better credit cards?
Get yourself added as an authorized user to (non amex) cards with a long clean credit history that aren't used much.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

There's no way to get 20 years of positive history on a 6 month old account.

Is it possible to change the address where the card comes to after you are approved before the card comes?

Depends on the bank.

Hello. I just got approved for 2 southwest cards. Wanted to go for 1 more chase card today. What the best hotel credit card to get w/ chase? I currently have no hotel credit cards other than spg. Should I go for Hyatt, Mariott, Fairmount, Ritz-Carlton, or ihg? Any suggestions? Tia

I don't travel much. Usually travel domestic. Would like to go to Italy, or Israel for honeymoon.

What's the best way to maintain hotel status (ie SPG Plat, Hyatt Dia, HH Diam, etc.) without actually staying req. nights?
