Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

I've asked this question on different forums but have yet to get an answer. My husband and I retired this year. With current CC apps we can use 2015 tax income. What do we use for next year besides the 3 months my husband has worked in 2016? He's waiting until age 70 for SS, RMDs aren't required yet, dividend income is minimal as most of it is reinvested in Roths or IRAs. We have other money set aside to live on until the SS years start. We live below our means which affects how much we need to withdraw from our portfolio not how much we can withdraw. Feel free to PM me.
You may want to post here.

I have Ritz Carlton, Hyatt, spg, CSP and discover. Does any of these cards have benefits to give me a high status at rental companies like enterprise/national?

I am new here.. I'd appreciate if anyone can help..

1) I have done the 2BM today for a Slate and IHG. IHG was approved instantly with 5K CL, Slate page said needs time to review application, if approved will receive card within 7-10 days.
Q - For slate, does chase typically give same CL I have on other cards? my CSP has CL 5K and Chase Freedom 4K.

2) Should I get the slate (hopefully) - how does the transfer work? I will need to transfer an Amex SPG balance.

3) I have a bunch of UR/SPG points and will have IHG soon. Links please to how to get the most of my points and/or how to transfer to airlines.

I know I should research on my own, I did but did not really understand and would appreciate if any pros here can spoon feed info

TIA!!

1 - Not necessarily, IINM.
2 - Create a login at Chase.com, and click on "transfer balances".
3 - Look around DDF. Don't expect to figure it all out overnight.

I thought that applies to Chase Cards only  >:(
And hey the IHG was approved, how is that possible with the 5/24 rule?

Can SPG balance be transferred to someone else's slate or must be under same name/ssn?

TY!

For the Slate/Freedom/CSP they won't approve you if you've gotten 5 cards from any bank in the last 24 months.

Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.
