Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

IME (a couple years back), I got the coupon despite cancelling, and was unable to combine. Don't know about now though.

How would you compare the risk factor of paying an Amex card balance using a check from someone else's account vs. linking their account and making an electronic payment from it? Is the electronic payment riskier? If I added the account holder as an account manager on my account, would that decrease the risk factor?

I do electronic payment without issues, many times.

Which hotel?

You can look at reviews and a lot of times the manager responds.

Need items in the car and the valet parking is run by a third party. Rental car company is sending someone. AA fee for changing a ticket?

AA put them on the next flight (standby). Did not charge a change fee or the increase in price. Is this normal?

Flat tire rule. Situations like this effete the missed flight is out of your control, airlines will often not charge for changes

I missed my flight plenty of times and never got charged anything. I even got a confirmed seat sometimes on the next flight, not just standby. I believe it was usually American using ba points. Maybe award flights are different.

And I've been put on standby on every flight for the rest of the day without getting on so YMMV depending on occupancy.
