Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

I have had a credit card with a cl of $1000 for over a year now and im thinking of applying for a good card to accumulate points. I want to apply for the chase sapphire preferred or reserve, is it worth applying for multiple chase cards with the three browser method? what about other cards such as an amex? thanks.

Do the Chase apps first.  They don't (usually) approve cards if you've had more than 5 cards from any bank opened in the last 24 months.

CPC doesn't work anymore and please show me a case where anyone has convinced a recon rep to overrule 5/24.

It occurs to me that syrkadyrk has a credit line of $1000 on his existing card.  He may not get approved for too many more cards as it is.
Good luck, syrkadyrk.  apply to chase for several cards.  In the order of the ones you really want.  call recon if you're rejected.
For tips there are threads on: 2,3BM method,  chase recon.

I didn't know CPC stopped working.  I've been dreaming of getting it.
I was rejected for the SR for 5/24. I called and told them, and this is partly the truth, that I was an AU on my adult children's cards, but was not responsible for paying those bills. That was the key phrase they wanted to hear.  I was approved.

You were under without UAs then, many people have been able to get approved by claiming that they're not responsible for AU'S, I'm talking about really being over 5/24.

Maybe.  After I wrote the last post, I started to figure out what my number really is.  Indeed I have opened fewer than 5 new cc's in the last 24 months!
(Opened new for spouse and kids, but not for me!)
