Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are wiling to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

I booked a ticket to Israel through priceline not realizing that the second leg of my stop-over would be on shabbos(!!). I called them asking them if I can switch the flight. They said that I need to pay $150 penalty, plus the fare difference which came out to about $1000!!! does anyone have any advice for me?

We're these part of the glitch tickets? is that why there's the big discrepancy in ticket price?

What airline? Considering costs might be worth "missing your flight" at the airport they can potentially rebook you for less....it's definitely a risk though.

I have a ticket booked on Emirates. I'm thinking of using points to upgrade one leg to business.
1. Can I do that after my ticket is booked?
2. If so, how do I transfer my Chase points? Korean?

Thanks!!

Not sure where to ask this question so I'm trying it here.  What happens to airline miles of someone who passes away?  Can those miles be transferred to a family member?

Most programs' T&C's say that the points are forfeited when the AH dies but they really have no way of knowing when someone dies. If you have the login info I would just use them yourself.

This is my first time putting a question in. I did it on the Marriott nights and flights thread.
I used this method over a year ago to get Southwest status and got a week in Rome at an amazing Marriott associated hotel. We want to do this again and I understand transferring thru to United is considered the best option and best to pick a higher hotel for nights. Therefore we are interested in the Ritz in Manhattan for a week which requires over 500,000 Marriott points ( and 1/3rd of that in SPG points) which would then transfer into a certain number of United points(132K). Before I do that I checked transfers of SPG points directly into United points and it looks like you would get 2 for one that way. It then seems that we wold lose a lot of potential united points doing this. Am I missing something?

You do not get 2 for 1, you get 1 to 1 and a 5k bonus for each 20k you transfer.
