Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

I wouldn't recommend doing 2BM at all reward is not worth the risk IMO.
Get your first chase card 90 days later you can apply for another one.
Not sure if it's a good idea to start off with a biz amex since it wont report to your credit report and you need some history

Is that your opinion on 2BM or 3BM in general or specifically for people in my situation?
That's what I thought about the biz card. Thanks for confirming
Still looking for a good MS method :)

Ok thanks.
I agree with Joel2.  Get a Freedom and keep it - don't cancel it - along with the Discover card.  They have no AF and will contribute to the length of your credit history.

Coming from a family with bad credit, it's especially important to recognize what the debt traps are. Good luck.

If I want to write on a Trip Report about a few random places but all seen in one trip. Is it better to post one long trip or post a few small posts in each section that part of the report pertains to?

For example ( not practical) if I  flew from North Carolina to Vancouver Washington with a stop in St. Louis and I want to write about the AA Admiral lounge in STL, the  flight,  and the places I went to in STL and Vancouver Should I write it in all one report or should I put the part about the STL in the St. Louis Master Thread and the part about the Vancouver in the Vancouver Master Thread etc...

I like it all in one place because it's fun to take your trip vicariously.
But links or copies of select  sections of the report   placed in the appropriate thread, so when researching each place we have more information available.

As an AU on AMEX BizPlat, do I have 60 days from the time the AF is posted to cancel and get refunded the AU fee?

I am trying to apply for chase business cards and keep getting declined with the standard 5/24 message "you have opened too many cards in the last 2 years" Am I doing something wrong? How do I make them aware this is for business and not personal?

business cards don't add to your 5/24 but if you already 5/24 they won't approve you. so if you 4/24 you can get as many business cards as you want but once you're 5/24 you're out of the game

Hi I'm new around here and have a question: I applied for a chase ink preferred, sole proprietor with 1 employee less than 1 year.
i got a letter asking for proof of address (this may be because its a new address for me at chase that I'm not connected to on paper) and business which I currently can't provide due to technical difficulties. How should I go about getting approved?

If I got rejected for a freedom but accepted for a amex everyday and both pulled from Experian how long should I wait till I try again and what should I do to help my case with chase? I have banking history with chase since 2016.
Freedom rejection was about 2 weeks ago.
Amex acceptance was a few days ago

I had a discover for 6 months prior

Reasons chase have for rejection

Not enough accounts opened long enough to establish a credit history

Sounds like you just have to wait longer to try for Chase.

Did you apply under your name or a business name?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
