Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

In regards to the "sticky" paid and award flight threads: are those supposed to be maintained and followed up on by certain members/admins or is it a "free for all" to respond to any posted flights ppl are looking for?

I just wonder how often ppl actually get answers to their requests. I would assume with the amount of volume it would be hard to oversee it (if maintained by specific people on DDF).

[Became interested in the answer after waiting for a while myself and not being sure if I will definitely get an answer.]

Its a free for all, if a DDFer feels he wants to search and respond that's up to him.

Its not done here on the forums. Call around or ask around about different brokers.

I never got answer for mine through ddf. I didn't BUMP or ask again with a please help. I found answer through other means before I got to it (the BUMP)... I have a feeling that if you post once you won't get answer, but if you ask a few times you will...

Also, how does the 3bm work? Is that too get multiples of the same cards or is that just to avoid too many pulls?
Following your conversation, regarding trying to get more cards etc. I would suggest that once you missed same day app with Amex - that you should look into applying to different bank that doesn't pull EX in your state. 3bm/AOR accomplish a few things, minimizes pulls for same day, (3 personal cc apps to Chase on same day will eventually roll into one pull) and it helps approval odds bec. of temp. lowering of credit with new card (too much new credit). If you apply to a different bank that doesn't see your new Amex yet, it will help your odds of approval now, and in 3/6 months you can apply to Amex again and then all your credit pulls will be 3/4 months old.
There's no exact timeframe as to when your new Amex will hit TU and EQ, but you can check with creditkarma/annualcreditreport before you continue the (mini) AOR...

How would that help you either way as the store cards aren't going to let you overpay from your account with them?
