Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

Still working on the slow intro to MS.  Since Redbird is gone, what are people doing now?  I am looking for strategy that won't raise any red flags.  Can you send me in the right direction?  I have SERVE, and I can always do the paypal option, but I'm afraid of using it too often.
Sure. Step number one: read. Step number two: read some more. Step number three: ask questions in the thread you were reading that was pertinent. Step number four: give your knowledge a test drive to see how it goes. Step number five: experiment until you have a strategy down pat. Step number six: #200k/month from bed. Step number seven: keep reading.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Is it permitted to cancel within 24 hours of booking, with no penalty, on International award flights just like it is on most domestic flights?  Specifically I want to know about Flying Blue?  Thanks.

In general yes. If you want to be sure, use priceline.

I'm looking to transfer points from my Amex rewards to someone else's ANA frequent flyer account.  Does anyone have experience with this?  I understood that transferring points between different people is typically not wise, as it may flag my account.  In this case, is it a problem?  Any help would be appreciated.

open an AU for them, and then there is no problem transferring to them.

If I'm already making him an AU, can I just send  him AMEX points straight from my account?  Do I have to bother sending it to his ANA freq flier?  Or is it still safer that way?

If you scroll to the bottom of the page where it lists all your purchases an UR earned, you will see what has posted.

Is there a difference between: "account", "login" or "username"?
In regards to opening multiple accounts/logins/usernames for my primary/secondary cards on amex?
