Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

if you booked a refundable hotel room you can otherwise you cannot.
They can be cancelled within 24 hours. Can I just cancel the hotel? Does it show somewhere the cost breakdown of the deal?

17k LH if UA has I, 25k UA if they have IN, 25k DL or 45k KE RT, biz plat if it's cheaper (if you can get B6 mint that's currently best product), AS if there's nothing but VX.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Thanks! I'm pretty much of a n00b so let me try to figure this out, I believe LH stand for Lufthansa and that's going to be booked with united, Correct? I believe i'm then going to use UR transferred to LH miles, Correct?
DL is Delta and that's MR points with the 50% rebate with the platinum, Correct? Book it on delta?

Which one would be the easiest to find availability without having to constant check and wait till something opens up?
What is the difference between I and IN?
Whats 45k KE RT,?
Whats B6 mint?
Sorry for raining so many questions in one post :)

The 25k DL is if you book with skymiles, the 50% BP rebate is based on the actual fare of the flight when you search the Amex travel portal, nothing to do with which airline you book. You'll pay 1cpp and then get half refunded back.

How do you figure someone's total post count?
You go to "posts" on their profile and then on the last page look at the number of the last post. For example you have 6393 which is quite the ratio.

Post counts don't mean anything. Quality is better than quantity.  ;)
