Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

You could actually get both sides of the argument from just reading JTZ. Regular JTZ & then
But I'm not bored enough to read the whole thread

Is there a way to just read a specific posters posts in a thread?
You can probably search for "thread title jtz"...

Hi,
I'm quite new but did a lot of reading on DD and DDF and other sites (sorry :-[).  The problem is keeping up with current award cards while eyeing a looming travel date. :-\

Wife just got a Chase Sapph Preff Visa mid Feb. 2017. Which will give me 60,000 points by the start of April. Already covered the $4k this month (March).

I can do my own spending of 3,000-4,000 monthly (but not much more) without using MS hacks, etc.  What cards should I apply for and in what order to get the proper amount of points for round-trip tickets to Israel in the first week of July 2017.
I'm assuming I would need time in advance of trip to find award tickets but I am not sure about this.

So the question:
What bonus offers/cards should I focus on from March-May 2017 to have the highest chance of getting at least 3 but possibly 4 RT economy tickets, taking into consideration the time until points post to account and April and May being "spending months", and also which airline/group has best chance of having available flights (July 4th weekend...)?

Ficos are 715(h) and 780(w).

If I close a Chase personal CC (because of the annual fee), will that have a negative effect on my credit?

You'll lose the CL unless if you move it over.

That depends on your credit profile.

The loss of the credit line can potentially lower your credit score a little, for a short time.  You if you move the credit line to another chase card, you'll solve that.
But a small depression in your score shouldn't make you keep a card that you don't want, especially if it cost you an annual fee.  The score works its way back up over time if all other factors are good.

Good, usually needs extra verification, many times goes through by itself after a couple days.

Was wondering the same thing...
Is or was that done to hide that post from people seeing it and let it be covered up by all the new post? As dan/jj. Claim to never erase posts if not necessary?

Easiest is probably to open another tab & copy/paste all quotes in the second tab. Comprehend ?
