Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

CDW is not included in the rental. Most credit cards cover it...  Sapphire preferred is good for cdw because it's primary

Just downgraded my SP  :(   how about starwoods or the old IB?

You may be asked for a USAA card and if you don't have it they won't rent to you.
I can't just print out my membership online? (tried doing it right now but seem to be getting error messages on the USAA website)

What about Enterprise chabad that waives underage fee?

I got a much cheaper quote from budget using the USAA quote (around $160 on standard, thanx CBS) than I see on enterprise using the chabad code (around $250)

I bet u could get that price with SixT without needing to deal with  USAA.

since when is SP primary ?
It's not (unless you don't have your own car insurance)
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

So I'm looking at $155.63 at budget for an intermediate with a coupon for a free upgrade (if available I guess) using USAA. This is with paying later so that I'm not stuck if they don't accept just an e-mail confirmation. Should I place a reservation at SIXT also for a little while later as back up?

And between the starwoods old IB and freedom is there any difference in terms of insurance?

Almost done thanks ya'll  :)

CDW is LDW....

C= collision meaning the cost to repair the damage
L= loss meaning the cost of the car being out of commission and therefore not being available for rentals
Both are typically covered by most credit cards.

Also cmiiw but I think the IB is primary when renting for business

Correct.

@Bubbles
Do you have the united explorer cc? It has primary CDW coverage.

Also, if you amex cc - many of them offer premium CDW coverage.  You need to preregister the card and ypu will be billed $20 ($25?) per rental - (not per day) for primary CDW instead of the cc's standard secondary coverage.

For the last two years, yes. IIRC before that it was EQ.
