Hi, i just start to be a Dens fan,
I am just confusing w/ so much information into one roof its amazing,
I did similar in the past (10 years ago), not with points, but with Bank / Credit card in general,
I had a checking account w/ 6% interest, no minimum no fee, checks cleared over night, prepaid envelopes for deposit, i was able to transfer money in one day from one bank to another w/ no charge (today its available every where) today's days it is not applicable any more,
Staples /office max /quill always paid me for shopping, by rebates, and Coupons, and so on,
citi had then a bill pay when funded from a city cc, it was as a purchases not cash, so u earned points, w/ no interest
I want to add my experience and charts i had then which i never update it fully, to the appropriate location, but it is to much to read, and i don't know what is still applicable, so i decided to write it into the BEGINNERS Forum, what i had then and others will help with updating whats still applicable, and where it is the proper place to post it, or where there is already a post or chart for that.
1) I had a chart each credit card minimum req. income for approval, so i don't get a pull for nothing, (even when you have good report, and history)
2) for beginners, i used to advise to open Student cards and not reporting income, as it was not necessary, and got $200-500 credit line, after a 3 months to call in to upgrade w/o doing a hard pull (it was an option by most companies to increase just w/ a soft pull), by then they asked for income, and it was upgrade based on income, not as student,
3) i had a list of Student Cards, dos days, was Citi, Discover, Sallie may, Usaa, (see latter for all other benefits from Usaa), and so on.
4) it was an option with most companies to increase once in a wile credit line w/o an hard pull, some where 3 months, and some 6 months, and i had a chart and used to call avrey 3 - 6 months, looks like it is not an option any more, could some one advice.
5) i had a chart for the following, application are denied for to many inquires on the report, but not all r the same, some where 3 in 3 months, some where 4 in 6 months.
6) benefits of USAA, (as it was then, i didn't verify current) it is a bank w/ a lot of services mainly for Military Personal, but most services is available for the public, its only i Tx, so they provide services by mail,
its a big benefit for dos they don't have a car and / or internet, (and don't want to go in banks)i used to give it for Kolel Yingerleit,
You could open an account by mail, they provide you with prepaid deposit envelopes, also w/ ups drop envelopes, it takes only 2 days in regular mail from NY,
you could add other bank accounts into the system for transfer by application via mail, when you want to do lets say a transfer from chase into citi, you transfer from chase to usaa, and before you put down the phone, just go back to main menu it is already @ usaa, now u continue to send it to citi, so in 2 days it showed up int cit from chase.
an other big benefit that u could over draft your checking account w/ a usaa cc for no charge and there is no per draft fee (other banks even when there is no transaction charge there is still some over draft charge), and it is only %10 apr
so i have all my minimums charged to my Usaa Checking account which has minimum money, and it over drafts from the cc, and allways when i get my pay check i pay off some of the credit card, so i only pay on place, and i don't have to keep track of each payment, and i don't have any high checking account balance which will conflict w/ Gov. services.
all usaa members (its automatic if u have any any account) are exempt of min. 25 yr. for Hertz/Avis/Budget.
i had better car rental deals w/ Usaa cpd# then Amex
6) a list of other benefits from cards, as a photo id on a cc, citi as a card for that, and Usaa u could have your photo and signature like a Non Drivers ID,
7) a list of which cc covers cwd for 15 days / 30 days
8- a chart for Roadside Assistance differences, Visa, MC, American express doesn't have the same for all cards either.
will continue at an other time w/ the office supplice stores tricks
