This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

You sure?  The point of an AOR is that one bank (who pulls from one credit bureau) should not see the pulls done from another bank ( which pulls a different credit bureau).
It's not about the quantity of your posts.  It's about the quality.

The point of an AOR is that the banks shouldn't see each others' pulls on a specific bureau.

If , for example,  chase pulls from EX in NJ, they'll never see the pull from barclays on TU.

All accounts are reported to and known by all three bureaus. Inquiries (pulls) are the only thing that shows up on one bureau and not the others.

AFAIU They can't see the pulls, but they do see how many accounts you have open.

@mmerms

Here goes:

If you live in NJ, generally speaking chase, amex and citi pull from EX.

The point of an AOR is that they shouldn't see each others pulls.

Barclays OTOH pulls from TU.

If you apply for a barclays card the day before your chase/amex/citi AOR, they still wont see the pull from barclays since barclays pulled from a different agency.

The same goes if you apply for a barclays card the day after a chase/amex/citi AOR.
Barclays will not see that just yesterday chase+ amex + citi pulled your credit.
The reason being that they all pulled EX, and barclays pulls TU.

Disclaimer: The above scenario applies to NJ, and is very YMMV.
Sometimes amex/chase etc do pull TU.

+1 ...but the problem is they are not seeing the big picture. There is services/CRA that shows all pulls. If your CC issuer uses one of these services they will see every time you applied for credit.

I'm not doubting you, but IME chase + citi + barclays don't use those services.

Do you have any data points as to which banks use those services?

I would have to hit up some CB members for data points. One I know of is US Bank.

IMO the reason for a AOR is so the banks don't see any new accounts on your report. If you live in NY or NJ most banks will pull EX and see the other pulls that day (YMMV).

If you live in a place (CLE) where they each pull from somewhere else, you won't have the problem of pulls since they all pull from a different CR. They won't see any new accounts since you just applied for them and they are not recorded yet.

So basically, if you live in NY or NJ you can apply a day or two apart and it won't (usually) make a difference, since they will see the pulls anyway.
