JFK TLV withn Stop in Europe

I know others have posted about this before, but please let me know if you have any other ideas.
For example:
A RT ticket JFK TLV JFk  in may can run as low as about 800$ in May. (with stop in Europe)
However once a stop is extended for a few days the ticket prices rise dramatically sometimes by about 500$
Any experience with getting better prices?
Any particular sites or agents?
I have tried kayak, Expedia, Airfrance, Iberia, KLM
I am not sure of my dates yet (that would partially depend on price)
I was considering flying to Israel with a stop in Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, AMS

i have spoken to whyaich on the phone a few times- and he was great- but i never actually booked with him. Aura i have used and was very satisfied.
