Shabbos in Tzfas

August 2007:
Every hotel was sold out.

Walked into the local Chabad house on Friday morning with my 2 younger brothers.  Called a number listed on the bulletin board of someone renting their apartment for shabbos.  Paid $75/night for 2 nights and the guy was ecstatic to have gas money to visit the in-laws in tiverya.

Picked up cooked shabbos food at the chabad tzerei hashluchim school which was very good and inexpensive.  Picked up amazing challah and wine from the store at the bottom of the hill from the school.

The Ruth Rimonim is actually a pretty nice hotel with stand-alone rooms.

There is a nice takeout food place on the main drag called Mendy's. Its Eidah. Food is great and they have a wide selection. You can order in advance if you wish.

There are several decent hotel options including the Ron, the The Metzuda or the Rimonim depending on your price range. There is another called the Tel Aviv though it's mostly for groups...if they had a loyalty club I'd be Lifetime Titanium :)

These are all pretty much in the same area..there are a couple makolets one if which is a small supermarket where you can get everything - no need to shlep from Jerusalem...

There are also a couple Pizza shops and a shwarma store with mehadrin hashgacha on the main drag as well...

In the Old city check out the Artists colony and Gvinat Kadosh - a small cheese factory/store where they make some awesome cheeses, ice cream and juices...

can i eat at mendys on shabbos or only take out?

also have you heard of beit yosef b&b? it got pretty good reviews on trip advisor

im trying for under 200/night

Take out only AFAIK

your price is per couple or what?

i'd call those places and get a price...it might be comparable as its not peak season yet

I haven't heard of it but that doesnt mean anything..as always just be careful when judging a place on photos...
