Just to clarify the OP, I was referring to plain black coffee. The CRC says lichatchila to be machmir (and I can't think of when it would be bidieved) and the Star K says its flat out not kosher.
The CRC is ok with the dishwasher, the rags, and most other things with the cleaning process. The problem is there is a 3-compartment sink they use before the stuff goes in the dishwasher. In the first sink, the water coming in already has soap, so any taam coming from the treif dishes is pogum. The problem is the second sink in which the hot water comes in without soap. If the coffee basket is in the sink with the treif dishes, it could get taam l'shvach.
But even the CRC was unclear about whether the coffee basket actually goes in the sink with other things. I've heard but can't confirm that Starbucks' policy is to wash the coffee equipment separately. If this is the case, regular coffee would surely be good. I'm wondering if any reputable rav hamachshir did the research to find out if the coffee equipment is washed separately, or even if it's usually washed separately.
Anyone? I'm desperate.
