This is actually a really powerful PC in the body of an Ultrabook

The specs are really nice, and not the mobile processor version.
Has dedicated 1GB Graphics - this is built for gaming, or real work - photoshop ect...

They prob are charging this price cuz they could, these specs on an Ultrabook aint common.

It will be way more powerful than an mac Air (not that you need it ;))
Come show me a photshop guy who earns as much as I do from a 3BM...

Lol ;)

I meant real work - any type of app that needs a powerful comp for.

Thanks.
The 13" Zaio, Custom made with:
Intel® Core™ i7-2640M processor (2.80GHz / 3.50GHz with Turbo Boost)
Windows® 7 Ultimate 64-bit
128GB SSD
8GB (4GB x2 fixed onboard) DDR3-SDRAM-1333
Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint 3G wireless mobile broadband built-in
Internal (4000mAh) + sheet (4400mAh) lithium polymer batteries
Comes to a whopping $2500.

Not entirely ruling it out, but seems like a heck of a lot of money.

I think I can pass on the processor, so -$150, perhaps also with Windows Home Premium (Don't even know the difference yet, use mac now) -$150.

I just can't see how this is worth $1000 more than a mac air.

Thanks again.
Assuming I don't use photo/video editing, while I understand the difference won't be significant, will I be able to tell a slight difference?
IF I shell out so much on a pc, I would pay the extra $150 for even the smallest difference.

Zaio, Like! lol :P

It's infinitely better than a MBA, though I agree, not worth the price.

Nope. Best laptop ever though.

I had the Dell 700m and (considering what was out there at the time) it was (IMHO) a much better value at $700 compared to my Zaio (thanks PlatinumGuy) Z12's $1,800 sticker price, even after adjusting for inflation.

@Name Changed, the Z2 has this annoying external thing you need for the 1gb GPU etc. Interesting concept, but not the same as having it all built in.

Yea, Its basically a dock.

But as per the specs - 2 SSD Drives for Raid 0 and a standard i5 or i7 processor, I doubt there is any room for them to put in a 1GB card into the body of the laptop ... if there was room, they prob would. But I guess what they are thinking that the times you need the capability of a 1GB graphics than its not such a big deal to dock the computer, and u'll get a USB 3.0, HDMI and a Optical Drive.

Its a nice PC, but IMHO not worth the price. I also am not happy that they only give you the option for raid 0. Obviously with 2 SSD Drives the laptop will be super fast, but your data isnt too safe.

Now that the new macbook is out - Here

Maybe you would consider it. It is really slim (what you want) and has a 15.6" screen

I took a look, the vaio is on sale now, though they are confusing me by calling them all the Z series.

It seems the $1000 premium for the Sony give me a better processor, built in LTE, lighter PC, a bit thicker, smaller screen.

I think the screen size is the most important for me, but while the specs look amazing on the Samsung, the price is suspiciously low, no?

What would be the best store to actually go and hold one in my hands?

Their site is very confusing, but they have a nice clearance sale.

http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SYCTOProcess?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&LBomId=8198552921666412480&categoryId=8198552921644859027

From what I can remember, the configuration that now cost $1970 was $2500 last time I checked.

The reason I didn't buy anything yet is because I have a 13" MBA, so this isn't such a necessity for me.

The Sony is deff a much more powerful of a machine.

The cons are - price, and its a 13" (when you want a 15")

The processor options are the standard laptop i5, or i7, but the Samsung has the mobile version which are a scaled down version, and wont give you optimum performance.

The Samsung is now a really good deal. It all depends on what exactly you prefer and what you wanna spend.

I appreciate your insight, I will think about it.  It might be worthwhile for me to wait for a 15" sony.

@Name Changed: Is this the long-awaited replacement for the Z11/12/21? Can we please get a mini-review/comparison to the aforementioned Z models?

I appreciate your insight, I will think about it.  It might be worthwhile for me to wait for a 15" sony.

I don't think you'll find a Sony comparable to that Samsung, and if you do it'll cost double or triple IMHO.
