Barclays mileage cards
« on: May 14, 2012, 09:54:23 AM »
Anyone have the Lufthansa card?  I see that there's an offer floating around out there for 50,000 points after $2,500 spend in 90 days.  I know nothing about Lufthansa miles..... is this worth adding to a future app binge?  All I know is they fly to Israel and partner with United

I see they offer many different airline cards:

Aer Lingus,
China Airlines,
Frontier,
Icelandair,
USAirways,
and Virgin America

If the offer is still good I also see that the USAirways card is giving 40k miles on first purchase and first year fee waived

What are your experiences with these cards?

On the US Airways, on the forum it has been mentioned that getting CS to get you a ticket is time consuming. It is a lot more time consuming then getting a ticket from United. No experience with the other cards.

I would considr the LH as one of the best offers currently, but it may have an annual fee or something like that.

So long as the brokers pay more for LH than UA, I enjoy every bit of it.

RT to TLV from NY is around $700-$800 IIRC.

IIRC their chart is bad for that, but availability is nearly perfect. There are some better values though.

J is very good through UA with no YQ.
It's the F that's interesting.

LH F doesn't excite me, but is LX F availability good through M&M?

Not perfect, but pretty good.
M&M has almost every day available for J, with UA you can often get stuck or the only option being multiple stopovers

Looking to refund a purchase made with a Barclays card.  After last statement my miles already posted with the bonus, but this will put me back under the spend requirement.  Do they clawback or will this just be a credit for my next bill?  Can I get them to send me a check instead of it being a credit (as Amex does)?

No one has any experience with Barclays cards? How they deal with credits/refunds? Clawbacks?

I booked a refundable ticket with them. Once I cancelled, they clawed back the points.
No experience with the bonus though.

No bank claws back bonuses that I know of.
And they have to cut you a check if you ask for a refund of an account balance.  Some banks will do ACH as well.
