Free Baggage on United??

I just booked a trip using miles to Hawaii.  Since this is a domestic flight I assume I will still be subject to baggage fees.  Although, I did use my MileagePlus Explorer card to pay the $30 in fees for these flights.  Any chance they will waive the baggage fees since I used this card?

Anyone have any other ideas on how to avoid paying the baggage fees?

Yup, forgot about that change.
Can anyone confirm that that it enforced?

Thanks for the quick response Dan.  I have been an avid reader of your website for quite some time, so you are partially to thank for my trip.  Definitely looking forward to it.

Although, I just checked the chase website and it says this:

FREE CHECKED BAG: Free bag is for first checked bag for up to two people per reservation. Fees for additional/oversized/overweight bags will apply. Purchase of ticket(s) with MileagePlus® Explorer Card required.

I used the MileagePlus Explorer card to pay the $30 in fees thinking this might be considered purchasing my tickets with the card, but not quite sure.  Any insight?

Not my experience.  They said if it's not paid by the card, i.e. not in the reservation, they wouldn't honor it.

If you were primary it would have automatically made the bags free regardless of payment.
If you're secondary it's all up to the agent and can definitely require talking to a super.
