Looks like a fun trip.  So you're set on Maui onver Kauai then?  It's a tough choice!

The planes won't be anything special...but only crazy people like myself consider the plane to be part of the fun.
Also I'd leave on one of the red-eyes on sunday to get in an extra day in LAX.  You'll have a car rental for 4 day in LAX whether you leave at noon or 11pm.

Another option would be Shabbos in Honolulu by a shul close to Waikiki.

Lol, I don't mean to push Kauai over Maui...they're both beautiful islands and you won't be disappointed with either.
My personal preference is Kauai...but it's just that-a personal preference.

ITS OFFICIAL!!! I booked it! done! WOOHHH!
I started off not even knowing a any city name in hawaii besides honolulu, not knowing any airport codes... now I know all of them and a whole lot about hawaii!!!
Thanks alot dan and all else that helped out!
Now I'm just trying to get hyatt points and book my hotel! (What about the sheraton, i see its covered by starwood, anyone ever stay in the sheraton in mauii?)
btw, the hyatt and the westin have kosher food, (in the hyatt the meat is either ch or viesmandle, and the chicken is ch or satmer... the bread is all bishul yisroel!!! , the westin still has to get back to me. the sheraton does not have kosher food but u can ship ur own to them and they will keep it in the refrigerater for u..)

Be sure to buy Maui Revealed and start reading and planning!  Make sure you do it with prime to get it asap.

The Hyatt, Westin, and Sheraton are all right next to each other in Ka'anapali in West Maui, not nearly as nice as South Maui...A shame there are no SPG/Hyatt's in Wailea.
Did you get the menu from Hyatt?

I am not familiar with the 2 specific hotels, but so far in my experience the Westins has always trumped the Sheratons that I have stayed at.

There are a couple non-chain hotels within walking distance of Chabad of Maui.

Dan, where do the kosher meals come from in LA? What kind of selection do they offer? Is the food decent?

I only know the chain hotels in Hawaii...it's all about the points!
Only on Oahu are there chain hotels within walking distance of a shul.

Any Waikiki hotel should be walkable to Chabad of Honolulu.
