« on: May 17, 2012, 04:07:03 PM »
I made a transfer yesterday to ba. When i called Amex today I was routed to Membership rewards fraud debt. but they're not sure why.

Did anyone ever get this after transferring points to airline?

Same thing happened to me when I called into a customer service, but in my case I had simply redeemed alot of points (for gift cards) in the last couple months.  It seems they just wanted to verify 'that was me' and then all was fine.

Transferred points this past Thursday night to BA and got a call with a message on Fri.
Called them and they just wanted to verify that it was legit.
They mentioned that my login might be blocked due to fraud alert but the she checked and said I was good to go.

Same happened to a friend of mine a few weeks ago, his transfer was into Delta instead of BA.

When I sold my mother-in-law's Amex points, she got a call from the fraud people that transfers were made to seven (!) different BA accounts in one shot. I told her to tell them all was well, and that was the end of that.

My mother just a got a call last Thursday regarding her Amex points. She said all was hers, and everything was fine.

Was wondering what will happen in anyone says it's fraud on a disposable FF account that the passenger has flown already, wouldn't that be nice to get a new portion of MR?

First of all, the call usually comes within hours of the transfer - generally not enough time for the pax to fly.

Second of all, who wants to deal with the headache of them freezing the MR account until "the source of the security breach is found"? Not to mention if they report to BA that the Avios account has supposedly stolen points in it, and BA starts digging into the IP address and stuff...

Not worth it IMHO.

YMMV, I guess. By me, whenever I got called, it was within 24 hours.
