I just read that chart. If so, why would I have to switch 20,000 spg points to LAN. Wouldn't it be enough to switch 3500 that will be 7000 plus the free bonus 1000 for a cleveland-ny flight that costs 8000 LAN Points?

You only get the 5K bonus points when you transfer increments of 20K, so if you transfer 20K to LAn you get 40K plus the 5K bonus which becomes 10K LAN. If you transfer anything less than 20K then you dont get the extra bonus so 3500K SPG *wood only gets you 7K LAN

Daven and let us know!

It posted today! Thanks for all your help!

If aa.com is showing availability on a award flight from yul - jfk for 25k. LAN would give it to me? or do they go according to other availability charts?

Wow, less then a week!

They go exactly by the AA.com availability.

Ok, I know this is gonna sound repetative... but this would pop my cherry as far as raveling with miles!

I signed up for an SPG about 3-4 months ago and building up my points is going well!

So i have a wedding in Montreal and wanted to use points to get a ticket, checking AA.com it will cost me 12,500Miles each way for a total of 25K in miles per ticket.

Now converting that to Kilometers yields roughly 40,000KM per ticket - I would need to transfer 40,000 SPG points to Yield about 100K in Lan KMs to buy two tickets.

Is that the correct calculation?

I need two round trip tickets (wife and me).

Lol, you converted 25,000 to kilometers...that's original  ;D

See this post:
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/5533

Yes, 20,000 Starwood becomes 50,000 LAN.
It's actually better than you thought, LAN charges just 16,000 kilometers to fly round-trip on AA from NYC to Montreal.
So 20,000 Starpoints would actually be enough for 3 tickets.

I am assuming that since I just signed up for a LAN account they won't let me book any reward tickets... but should I just start the transfer of point to miles right away?

Thanks Dan!!

Dear customer:

At this moment it is not possible to use the flexible award exchange service.

Thats the message I get from LANPASS...

I would take a week or 2 to transfer but the availability between YUL and NYC on AA award tickets is great! So you really dont have to worry about that

Yeah I noticed and my dates are slightly flexible just need to be there on Sunday night for the wedding and then I can fly back when ever, but I not stressing on finding the award ticket because it doesn't matter if I fly back on Monday or Tuesday its all the same =]`

Whats the going rate for 32,000 Lan KM's... just wondering

I need to fly from ORD to YOW, YOW to BWI, then BWI to ORD.

I was planning on doing an open jaw from ORD to YOW and BWI back to ORD using LANpass on AA.

I am trying to figure out how to get from YOW to BWI using the least amount of miles. (This route always has a stopover and AA has the stopover in ORD)
I was planning on using 12,500 AA miles for a one way but i cant find a single date that has availability.

As of now, I have: SPG, AMEX MR, AA, Delta, continental, and spirit miles.

Should i use 25,000 on AA, delta, or continental (they dont offer one-way award redemption)?
Or does it make sense to just use AA using LAN and make it into 2 round trip tickets: ORD-YOW, YOW-ORD and then ORD-BWI, BWI-ORD.

Doing it that way would cost me 38,000 KM (15,200 in SPG)

Im thinking to just go that route and use the LAN/SPG even though its with a stopover.

Anyone else have thoughts on this one?

Check United for a one-way ticket.
If they have then look for a trading partner.

1stly SPG-CO goes at 2 SPG for 1 CO so Id stay far away from CO if at all possible (same with UA 2:1)

then Im not with LAN but I thought that LAN can book on AA the exact samething as what AA is showing, = nothing on AA then nothing on LAN. and U did say you werent abale to find availability on AA, unless I misunderstood you

does AC hit you with crazy fees and surcharges, can U transfer SPG-AC?

Will LAN book you on AA at the higher rate (25k one way) if the cheaper one (12.5k) is not available?

Meaning if the 12.5 miles option is not available, is there a way to get on the flight using 25k option when booking through LAN?

No, partner airlines only have access to saver awards not anytime awards.

Can one-way awards be booked using LAN to fly on AA? We know AA offers one-way awards, but does LAN allow that as well?

I booked a aa flight using lan kilometers on friday and when i view the reservation on aa.com it still says status unknown. Does anyone know how long it takes lan to ticket the flight on aa? Should i worry and call or will it be ticketed in the next few days?

I booked a lan award on AA & it said status unknown for a few days & then after a couple of days it switched to ticketed.
By the way how much was the taxes & fees, cause I found that every single agent in lan will give you a different price by me it was anywhere between $8-$50 & I ended up paying $12 per ticket
