Can Florence be visited in one day (To/From Rome in one day) and do it justice? Would like to see the Shul, the Academie, the Uffizi (not everything there) and Ponte Vecchio, with some walking around the city. Or is that just too much for only one day?
I just google-mapped the train station > Accademia > shul > Uffizi > Ponte Vecchio > train station, and it's a circular 57 minute walk, so you can definitely do it in one day - question is how much time you want to spend at each, and everyone's different in that regard. Some art lovers will spend a couple of hours in the Accademia while others will pop in for a selfie with David and leave.
I went to the Accademia and Uffizi on two different days, arriving soon after they opened in the morning, and had a 20-30 min wait at each. When I left, I asked the people at the head of the line how long they'd been waiting and it was 60-90 minutes. Lines might be shorter in the fall, after covid, but you can find online skip-the-line tickets that allow you to walk right in. Might be worth looking into those so that you have more time to walk around the city. Also, you might want to splurge on the high speed train which saves on travel time to and from Rome.
I would also recommend at least a peek into the Galileo Museum to see his telescope and other old science stuff.
