Lakewood NJ Master Thread

I happen to know the person who placed the attached ad in this week's Lakewood voice. They have been doing this type of thing in Brooklyn for a while, with overwhelming positive response and happy clients (people that have spent thousands on surgical procedures with dermatologists, and were unhappy with results, compared to price/results with this type of treatment). My own DW and kids had some skin tags and moles removed and we are very happy.

The person forwarded to me the following text message received: "That was really not nice to place a add with such ugly pictures! Just because you look at that stuff all day, doesnt mean you Have to gross out the entire Lkwd!"

I think the person who wrote that should be very happy that they don't have any such conditions (or worse) in person, or in their family, but I took a look at the ad, and it didn't seem terrible to me (I was shown much worse pictures that I said shouldn't go in a general circulation publication).

Were they wrong to place this kind of ad in the Voice? I think that even if someone thinks the ad is gross, just don't look at it, flip the page or rip it out. Does it really warrant such a response? They have people in Brooklyn begging for appointments and can easily fill up an entire week of appointments, but decided to bring this to Lakewood too, so that the Lakewood community could benefit from it too. Does this have no place in Lakewood?

That ad is fine imho.

There are much more objectionable ads in the voice to kvetch about...

I wouldn't be so harsh but I wouldn't appreciate seeing such a picture in a paper, it's a bit much.

There are 10 pictures in the ad. Any specific ones I should tell them to omit? Are there any that aren't a problem? Many of these kinds of things I see every day in shul. I personally didn't think there was a problem.

I was asked in advance of this ad being placed, there were two versions, one with the pictures, the other with medical names of conditions. I personally thought pictures were better.

'You dont need to gross out the whole lakewood' LOL. Tell your friend not to even waste his gmail storage on that email and just press Delete!
There are many bored people in Lakewood unfortunately that are only out to criticize. I've had my fair share of flack from people in the past responding to my ads. Tell him to ignore

+1  What about keeping the pictures, but making them smaller (I know, they are already small...). This way, people can still get the visual idea without it being "in their faces".

I think most people who will have a first reaction of 'gross' won't actually think so if they take a second look at each of the pictures. It must be something in the overall design and first impression (my guess is that it is the eye close-ups).

Besides Gelbstein's, you can usually get Milchig donuts in Korn's (in Kikar Shabbos). Or you can get upper class (and more expensive) ones in Gingerbread House and (I think) Bo&Bon (near the new French Press).

I know this wasn't the question, but if you happen to be in Brooklyn, stop into Bagels N Greens - they have the best Milchig donuts that I've ever tasted (albeit at around $4 each, but well worth it IMO).
