this is [one of] Lakewood s biggest traffic nightmares. There are only 2-3 crossings over the lake which splits the town in 2

What seems to be overlooked Is the fact that no developer needs another crossing over the lake. They need the vermont extension, they need many other road that cut into what were wooded areas, they need traffic lights outside their developments (and don't say they pay for it - they negotiate that they'll pay for it during the hearings and it drops off before the final one or during construction). They need their blocks they live on (14th street, Carraneta...) repaved, who cares about 7th and ridge.

There is a turning light there, no? They just went when it was green for everyone.

Yeah, the turning car was clearly at fault here. They didn't have right of way.

Is it time to put a few crossing guards by the intersection of New Hampshire and Cedarbridge ?
Or we need a few people to die CV?

Crossing guards? There hasn't been a pedestrian accident there in a very long time bh. It's generally not area with foot traffic.

I mean I agree the car going straight was speeding but that doesn't give a right for the car to turn

Have no idea why theres no turning light there like they have for MLK the other direction

Because it's a county road. Our local elected officails are supopsed to petition the county to fix these things. But they don't.

Send a letter to "ask Ray Coles" on TLS. He will reply "I will have the traffic engineer bring it up at a future county meeting", and that will be the end of that. You'll never hear back from anyone.

I always say - TLS should do a monthly follow up column of all the ask the mayor questions and see if any of them were actually handled/addressed/fixed/etc.

Crossing guards are not only for people.

Traffic lights and stop signs are for vehicles. Crossing guards are for people, unless traffic volume is higher on a specific day and the current infrastructure (stop sign/traffic light) cant handle the increase.

Based on the amount of MVA there, does not seem like traffic lights are doing the job.

Left turn on green arrow only would solve a lot of this

If not for the accident he would've been completely thru the intersection while still yellow.

You're allowed go on yellow, you just have to be passed the white lines going across your side of the intersection before it turns red

I can hear an attorney making a case, that the car going straight was reckless. The driver was clearly speeding and had the driver been driving at speed limit would possibly have hit the first car making a left turn, but regardless wouldn’t have made the light.

I'm not sure they were speeding. The speed limit is 50mph

Ummm.... it doesn't work that way.

If you make a shortstop in the middle of the GSP, and you get rear ended, you are not at fault. You may get a ticket for careless driving. But it's not your fault. The guy behind should've left more space etc.
