I heard a few people say to take probiotics. Any word on the efficacy for this?

If you've never used them before, I wouldn't start now.  Some develop diarrhea from probiotics, so if you start them now and still have diarrhea, you won't know whether it's from the probiotics or a continuation of the original problem. 

It's been 3 days at this point, right?  Your symptoms are diarrhea, not vomiting, not fever? Anything else? Has it been getting any better since it started?

Vomiting was only the first day, fever only the first two. It has been significantly better today, but I know of others who felt better but then relapsed.

Can you ask why they think they relapsed?  If it was because they started to eat "normal" again, then try to avoid that.  Stay away from fatty foods and raw vegetables and sweets and large portions for a few days even after you start to improve.  Instead of three gezunte meals a day, eat small portions throughout the day. Eat simple carbs without sauces or spices (potato, sweet potato, pasta, rice), cooked vegetables (carrots, zucchini), protein (chicken, eggs, avoid dairy).  You can do this all in one pot - chicken soup with the veggies and a couple of the carbs - and you'll have a good nutritional dish, easy to digest, even if it gets boring to eat the same thing all day.

I looked up probiotics: They ARE effective at reducing certain kinds of diarrhea, especially the kind associated with antibiotics, and about a dozen types of probiotic bacteria have been effective for that.  But for infectious diarrhea there is little evidence that they work, and in those studies where they do find an effect, it shortens the duration by only about a day.  So if people say the current bug lasts 10-14 days, taking probiotics might shorten that to 9-13 days.

Pepto Bismol is good for stopping diarrhea, as well as the associated discomfort. Some people prefer Imodium, for either one check the labels for cautions that might apply to you.

If you're not eating much and are losing a lot of fluid from either end, it's easy to become seriously dehydrated, so if you start feeling weak or dizzy or faint, get medical help. You may need iv fluids.

I am not a doctor, and if you're still feeling unwell tomorrow, you might want to consult one.
