Can we get a wiki with private barbers and prices? Sorry but a 10 minute haircut at a rate of $150 an hour is simply obscene. There is a s no reason in the world the job should command the compensation of someone with a medical school degree.

I bought the Wahl $22 clippers from DDMS and started giving my kids haircuts myself. It took a few times to become good at it, but I don't think my kids knew the difference to much. (I practiced on the ones that were young enough to not really care until I got good at it, which took surprisingly quick.) Now I save myself $100s of dollars a year from it.

Just checked, now $35. But don't wait and think you'll save 15 or 20 by waiting. Every haircut will save you more than that.

Real question is if you can really make $150 an hour off the books why aren’t we seeing a flood of guys doing it? The barrier to entry is really fairly low.

what was you worst haircut experience?

i dont remember how started but i remember how it finished, someone started giving me a haircut in shul the machine broke, after waiting around not sure what to do a 70+ sees me and he offers to finish it up with a battery powered cordless haircut machine,
i asked him about his work experience he said he used to do it on his kids,
so i let him do it, it meeded charging every 35 seconds he didn't cut out all my payois.

On a serious note, I will never forget going to the Skulener Rebbe zt"l as a child and he told me (and basically every other boy who came with me, as we were all Litfish) that we should cut off our chups (=in our case, bangs) and we should start wearing bigger yarmulkas.

Pesach in beginning of Covid. Stuck at home for who knows how long I just had someone in the house give me an over the top, had it fixed up shavous.
