KCL doesn't certify hookah bars. One can argue they are "old fashioned" but as long as they are giving the certification they get to make the rules, without the need to disclose their policies to ddf'ers.
Our young generation really has a problem with authority. We want a hechsher but we want it our way.

A private one time event in the back hardly makes them a hookah bar and I doubt this is the first time KCL was the supervision of an event with hookahs.

Regardless of everything above, it’s nice to see other hechsherim are succeeding in Lakewood, and no one thinks twice.

The KCLs goal is to provide a reasonably priced hashgacha that can be relied upon without overburdening establishments with onerous fees. Are they the best out there? Probably there are others who are even better.But are they on par or better than most widely eaten city hashgachos in many ways? Yes. They are certainly better than 95% of the kashrus options in the various destinations discussed in this forum.

I eat Miami Kosher, Vaad of the 5 Towns and many other hechsheirim ( most stores and items) and have a level of comfort with most of the KCL establishments that I don’t have visiting other places. And yes, your average guy in yeshiva or torahdige Baal habayis in Lakewood is uncomfortable with an establishment itself promoting a UFC fight night and hookah bar (not just renting space- the sign said in collaboration with Ottimo) and expecting a hechsher because hey the food is kosher.

The rabbanim involved with the KCL are yirei shomayim and aren’t some evil ruffians like you make them out to be. Maybe time to stop bashing.

While the hooka crowd might not care which hashgocha, a large part of lakewood does care. I doubt any respectable hashgocha would take over an establishment under those circumstances and enough people aren't going to be happy with a weak hashgocha.

I guess you have a philosophic disagreement with Rav Forcheimer and Rav Osher Chaim Lieberman over whether a top notch kosher lemihadrin hookah bar and fight night with all the right kashrus shtemples is preferable to a good hechsher that devotes resources to hashkafa as well. Anyone who heard Rav Matisyahu’s shmuzin on this topic knows where the yeshiva and the olam it represents stand on this. I’m sure your personal opinion and philosophy is very chashuv. When you take achrayus for the tzibbur let me know and I will give it its due weight.

You need to be very lucky to get more than one of quality, inexpensive, and quick but you want all 3?
