CBN here - not sure if your on CBN currently or were at one point were but for those that have been members for last couple of months they will tell you that your not on target .

1. There are no attacks , we dont post name of Jews store when we show side by side of an a food item thats half price in a non jewish store
2. The focus is over all on actually looking at prices ( which most never did ) and not just picking up items from the  shelf and assuming your paying a fair market price
3. Im not going to say that I know the food industry inside out but I can say that after speaking to many store owners and multiple distributors that I have more than enough knowledge of how things work to do what we are doing .

4. If you ever have an issue with anything I say or post then feel free to call me . I am more than happy to become more knowledgable and discuss any topic that you would like .

5. I have no agenda in the food world , my business has zero to do with anything food related .

6. We are operating with guidance from Rav Reuven Feinstein and Rav Ari Marburger and have implemented all of their thoughts ( we are trying our best to avoid disparaging people or stores,although I do admit its a big challenge with so many rip off artists around the community )

I really do think you are well intentioned and there’s no question that educating the masses that there there are far cheaper acceptable options for most products is a public service. Yet many of the posts have a “blame the Jewish proprieter/service provider” tinge, when there are realities of increased supply side costs, labor, rent, etc. that factor into the pricing. The reality is that a Jewish grocery will never be competitive with Costco or Walmart on most items. The scale, negotiating power, salary structure, and other factors simply aren’t comparable. Jumping on Salmon at 14.99 lb when Costco is at 11.99 instead of 6.99 a few years back should clue you in that there is a current supply side issue with salmon (there is) rather than a scheme to rip people off.

In short kudos for alerting the tzibbur that there are ways to shave significant dollars off one’s grocery budget but it needs to be don’t in a way that isn’t disparaging to the majority of our  frum businesses who are trying to make a parnassa like everyone else, even if there may be a few bad apples among them.

To give an idea of the scale of a store like Shoprite, I once asked the fish guy in Shoprite how much salmon they sold during a week that it was on a major sale and he said they went through a few tons a day for the entire week.

I am just trying to show the price difference between shopping local and in big box during this challenging time for most of Klal Yisroel .  even big box has the labor and rent etc but at ned of the day for everything besides cholov yisroel and shechita, the big boxes ( cotsco/Aldi/TJ/ Shopright etc) are usually half cost and sometimes even more . Bingo and maybe KRM are the only outliers that im aware of where their pricing is close to being competitive .

Additionally the distribution by Yidden is monopolized and that is why the grocery stores are being held hostage pricing and margin wise . There is a lot going on

Important to keep in mind that Costco can turn a profit on groceries on a margin of 10-15% but a small grocery will often not even break even on a 25-30% margin so you are obviously going to see higher pricing. No question the distributors are a factor but there’s lots more at play.

I prefer to pay more (potentially), and shop where pricing is transparent.
