Again, 100%.  But if management is serious (and pays well), then IMO it can be done.
You're right. But don't hold your breath.

I'm not.  But I am curious why another major supermarket chain has not opened up here.  IINM, Kroger is the largest in the country (among the largest in the world).  Publix is big too (although they are mainly in the south).

According to this list (one year old), Shoprite is #11.

It has been years, but AFAIK price is driven more by location than by chain.  But, yes, I think they are competitive.  They do not advertise themselves as a high-end store, where you will pay a premium (e.g. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods)

if they're cheap then it is surprising that they don't have any in NYC .

Half the Lakewood thread for that matter should be moved to js.
Maybe make a thread called lakewood hock.....
If anyone needs real info about Lakewood (like what trip reports are supposed to do) it'll be really hard to get it, would have to sift through pages of nonsense.

FTR, when they started they were indeed non-profit.  Somewhere along the way, they changed the structure, but the name stuck.
true...i called them once to ask if it still stands for not profit they said its just the name now,not an acronym anymore.
