my wife got a ticket for talking on her cell phone.... they told us that it is mandatory to come to court for this violation....we have court date next week..... anyone have experience with this? or any ideas who to speak to about this? TIA!

I got one in Freehold and was told that there are no points, but after 3 times you can have your license suspended.

There wasn't really much to plea bargain (because of no points either way) with so I had a story and the prosecutor recommended the minimum fine which I think was around $250 for a first offense.

It's part of the punishment to waste your time and make you come in to court.

Regarding the Rabbi Forshiemer Shlita court case: There's a letter in the Yated this week on page 88. It's on R' Shmuel Kaminetzky's stationary and signed by him and every other major posek (R' Shlomo Miller, R' Felder, all of Lakewood's Poskim, etc.). It's worth seeing it inside because it's very well written. In short, it says that taking a Posek of such a caliber to court is a fight against Hashem regardless of what the cause of the suit is, and anyone who could be Mocha must do so. (See it inside- I didn't do a good translation.)

IME almost all Kol koreh include some fraud to get all the signatures either simply putting on names who never signed anything or changing the letter to something different than what was signed

I would usually agree but in this instance I'd imagine it remained fairly untouched. What they stated is pretty much what anyone could've guessed then writing.

That's what people said about other Kol korehs that I know for a fact were forged
(I know nothing about this story)

ETA: I just read the letter and I don't know how anyone can say that it was wrong and it doesn't matter what the story was.

I would be shocked if that is the case here. It was put together by a close talmid of R' Shmuel who is very respected by the poskim and done under R Shmuel's direction. It's content is also very obvious.

Based on what has happened in the past I'd be shocked if it was as simple as it sounds and I'd be almost as shocked if there was no forgery involved

Maybe he just knows more backround info than you do? Maybe he's just more "in the know" and doesn't just blindly follow signs hanging in the BMG coffee room??

I'm not talking about this specific case, but in general, not everything you pick up in the coffee room is true. As a matter of fact, its usually far from the truth.
