I think they specifically were advised by Gedolim to keep it all in one area. Don't expect a building down the 9 anytime soon.

I love gourmet glatt .. Npgs will be there for the peasants that want expired crappy experience .. And to have evergreen and seasons just keeps the traffic out of town .. I propose opening more shops further from town to reduce the need to come into town

I would imagine that Gourmet Glatt, Seasons, Kava etc. only exist or plan to is because there is a market for them. When I lived in Lakewood Shloimy's was the upscale shopping place, and when they expanded it was a big deal. And no avreich wanted to live further away than Forest Park, and 50 years ago no one would wear a shtreimel in the street in lakewood because it was a yeshiva town. But that metzias is gone, and isn't coming back. And it's not only outsiders, it's also Alumnus who are now accountants, and still want to live in Lakewood, at the rate of 700+ new people a year, the yeshiva itself is quite a catalyst for growth. The Brooklyn transplants are compounding the growth, but many of them are people who just want to be near their kids, siblings etc.
The same thing happened in Monsey - a  yeshiva community was started by BME, it grew and a significant MO community peacefully grew as well, then chassidim moved in, and they grew even more, and they yeshiva people all sold their houses to developers and moved to lakewood
I think what Lakewood could do is make sure nothing like Kaiser starts so at least it'll be aesthetically pleasing. and start more yeshiva towns, like Browns Mill, Waterbury, whatever. By the way, the Mir (and Chevron, I think) both opened affiliates in Kiryat Sefer for exactly this reason, and they did it when Kiryat Sefer was still in the development stage.

This thread isn't meant for this discussion, and is getting spammed up. Somebody should start a JS thread about the predictions for the future of Lakewood, and they're thoughts on what it's goals and takanos should be.
