The question isn't only getting by but also being able to see properly around a bend and many other factors. In general when a spot is no parking it is for a reason especially in Coventry.

What if everyone did that all day? I'm not saying that their aggressive tactics were called for but from a legal standpoint I don't see what they did wrong. Also, I believe once a car is hooked up to a tow truck they are legally allowed to drive off even if the driver appears. If you jumped in front of the tow truck and got run over would they be liable?

You are missing the point! Illegal parking is illegal parking. If only the city of Lakewood would be as vigilant with this kind of towing people would start keeping the law!!

I don't want to give away my address, but trust me, this situation is very normal and understandable not bothering anyone and something every "self righteous" person on this forum would do themselves especially for a min or two.

I would hope so...Just because someone is standing in front of your car, even if you're a "licensed tow truck" you're allowed to run them over???
The cops themselves told me they were wrong for what they did and they shouldnt have driven off wile I was holding onto the car. They called it "reckless"

So the issue is the way he took off, not that you got towed.

It sounded like you were complaining that you got towed, and that you got cut in the process.

IDK, I know that I don't consider all illegal parking the same.
Like double parking during street cleaning days, you don't really have a choice.

ETA: Some illegal parking really inconveniences others, some don't inconvenience anyone at all.
We all break petty laws here and there, what really matters most is that we don't inconvenience anyone.

The advice is that he has no case since he was parked illegally and therefore by LAW they can tow him. Again, someone above did offer a bandaid.

Don't mean to be harsh, and I feel bad that he got stuck with this bill, but as far as litigation goes it's like crying that it's not fair that you were caught speeding.

As far as them driving off when your hand is on it, I wasn't there, so I don't know if they knew you were holding on right then or not, but if they have a legal right to tow and you are obstructing them, maybe they do have a right to either physically remove your hand from the car or just warn you and then drive off. I would imagine that there were either actual verbal warnings to let go of the car or at least the clear inference that they were going to drive off and you attempted to physically hold on in an attempt to convince them not to drive off. .
