Would garbage trucks take cans that are raised up a couple of inches off the ground? I want to build a little dolly/cart so I can take all the cans out at once.
They need space between the cans.
Also, don't expect them to drop the cans back in your cart

I highly doubt it. If its an automated truck, they need a lot of space between the cans.

If it's manual, good luck getting them to take your cans off of a cart/dolly.

Why don't you take it off yourself once it's at the curb?

I keep my garbage cans on the curb because there’s nowhere on the street to properly put it, they take it every time
Why don't you take it off yourself once it's at the curb?
Good point

Good idea, would you commercialize this? PM me if you’re interested in selling them

It will take up the same amount of room with or without the cart. It will just take up more room next to the house.

I guess I could do that just slightly more work.
Good idea, would you commercialize this? PM me if you’re interested in selling them
Once I can get it to be like a roomba then it would be patent worthy. But I'd technically be in to commercialize it depending on what that entails.

One $15 harbor freight dolly can carry 1000 pounds. Taking one or two of those and putting a board on top should be fine.

Good question. Ariz is very heimish with gas/condition/miles, and can give you a good price if they have cars available

I'm a mover and would not recommend those. I hate the plastic wheels they use.

Ok, so how do I get visibility into the process so I can properly price this out? I called a couple of brokers, they seemed very evasive about pricing, and I got the feeling that they are used to clueless customers who they can take to the cleaners..

Are there any brokers that are transparent?

He pretty much has the same prices the whole year. In the summer he can be a bargain. In the winter not as much. Imo it’s worth it to rent from him. Besides that it’s owned by a Jew, the rental experience is less official and more chilled in general. Obviously a long term rental is a diffenret story.

Good luck getting a car from him in the summer though, they’re always completely out of cars. IME you can negotiate a better price if he has one of the cheaper cars available, doesn’t charge for Shabbos, is very chilled and unofficial, and of course, he’s a yid. But I plan on renting a car for the weekend so if anyone hears of a good deal available, let me know :)
