I got the same ticket recently ( I drifted in and out of a lane) I plead not guilty. The court cases are all on zoom. You meet with the prosecutor first, if you have a clean record they will remove the points and Give you a ticket with a fine, or maybe even get it completely dismissed. No need for any Laywer.

It's the same height as the regular simcha one, but it's not as long.

Gotta be careful with that. If they change it to a moving violation you're insurance will still go up even if the DMV didn't give any points

Attorney fees, court fees, and the extra amout you pay for the no points plea bargain.

Yes, call first to make sure they have in stock. I never tried ordering before Purim, but they usually have the standard cakes in stock.

Zevi had suggested I just try to Plea Bargain myself.
Gogreen responded that I need to be careful as they can change it to a moving violation

So my question was, isnt it already a moving violation, what do I have to lose? And with this idea I would not be paying any attorney fees, and I would imagine an increased fine is well worth not having my insurance rates go up?

It also means your insurance will have just as much of an effect as it would with the orginal ticket.

So it turns out that even without lawyer fees, you're paying a higher fine for no gain.

The bottom line is, you should try really hard to get them to turn the ticket into a non moving violation.

When I tried in Lakewood, they wanted to change it to reckless driving, but with no points. It would've been a $400 and change fee, plus an insurance bump. Spoke to a lawyer and he had them change it to a non-moving violation.

B"h I don't have any points on my license now. I'm just trying to figure out my best bet on how to proceed, with best likeliest outcome.
If it ends up being a lot of work, and costs that add up with low chance of success then I'd just accept abs pay the ticket now. (Chance of success to be means I clearly come out ahead after all fees and costs...)

Separately any data points on what insurance increase to expect?

How does that work, after they make you the offer, you have the opportunity to review with a lawyer and get back to them?

It was a funny story.

I had tried calling Leib Klein (for a Lakewood ticket of DW for not stopping by stop sign) and I couldn't get through (I later learned that I had the wrong number). So I went to court, thinking that I can ask for a plea deal myself. The prosecutor offered her a $400 plus reckless driving ticket with no points, but he said that he does not promise that insurance won't go up. When I asked him if he recommended I go with that, he said that there may be better options, and that 'that man' - pointing to a man on the other side of the courtroom, can probably help me. I asked who that is and the prosecutor said, "Leib Klein". I asked, "aren't you supposed to be on opposite sides," to which he answered, "na, we're good friends."

So I got up and spoke to Leib Klein, who charged me $450 - instead of his usual fee of $500 - after a assured him I'll go online to the forum I saw his number wrongly (DDF) and correct it. He went to the back, spoke with the cop, and changed the ticket to "obstructing intersection." $80 something fine and no points, plus no insurance increase.
