Transformers are generally not the issue. When people say "the transformer blew up" it's usually the fuse, transformers blowing up are exceedingly rare. It's all the rest of the equipment causing issues, for example when a tree snags a power line, it should trip the fuse to prevent everything from overheating.

filter was not issue, freon also not an issue
the circuit breaker keeps getting tripped up sounds like I need a new unit (20 years old already!)

Compressor certainly can trip circuit breaker

That's a loaded question. It's not for DDF, in my opinion. You should ask a close relative or friend whom you trust.

Although I use another practice, I wanted to share a personal story with Dr. Eilenberg.

When I was 12 years old, I spent Shabbos in Flatbush for a relative's Bar Mitzva Shabbos, and I was put up for Shabbos at Dr. Eilenberg's house, as he lived on the block. On Friday night, I began to feel sick, and I was up much of the night feeling miserable. My brother had strep a few days before and was on anti-biotics, and although I suspected that I also may have come down with it, I was hesitant to take a dose of his medicine without asking a doctor. When I shared my dilemma with my relative in the morning, they told me that my host was a doctor and I should ask him. I was scared I would be overextending my welcome by asking, but I was feeling really sick, so I did. Dr. Eilenberg was so gracious - he looked at my face and said that it is for sure strep and I should start taking doses from my brother's medicine. After Shabbos, when I was on my way out, he stopped me and told me that he wanted to look at my throat. My mother told him that she didn't want to bother him and that she'd make an appointment for me at my PCP, but he insisted. He looked at my throat and said that I should not even take a strep test, because it was so obvious that it was strep. He then insisted on writing out two prescriptions for me, one for pills and one for liquid, as I was not good at taking big pills, so he wanted me to have a backup in case I couldn't swallow them. He also wrote a prescription for my brother, so that he can replenish the doses that I took on Shabbos. My mother tried to give him my insurance information, but he adamantly refused. He said I was his guest and he refused to get compensation for looking at me.

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive handyman (frum or otherwise) to put some screws in some chairs. Relatively simple job.
