OK I'll start:
The Evo has a Li-Ion 2000 mAh integrated battery.
Anything I need to know regarding charging it the first times or can I just use it out of the box?
I see conflicting opinions online, I want to do this right.
Anybody knows what the deal with that is?

I've heard about draining once and fully charging, I doubt 3 times would make a difference.
Either way let me know if you can actually make it through a full day without tethering your phone to a wall.  I've yet to do that since I got mine

I'm expecting not being able to go through a full day without plugging in. That is a given with any smartphone and I've come to terms with that.
However, the grand majority of my days, I sit at a desk for at least a few hours, so that's when my device get some "juice dosage".
With the Evo 4G LTE, I will anyways be purchasing a portable USB charger.

Achilles heel for me.  Kudos to Samsung for not going down that Apple path.

Regardless of the removable fact. I mean that it is a given that no smartphone can go through a day without charge for that one battery.
It is obvious that if you have extra batteries with you you can switch without plugging in...

Of course.  But I used my GNex to navigate all around BA with GPS and make calls over wifi, etc.  Plus I have spares so that I can use it all day, fly all night, and hit the road running.
Without a removable battery it would have been awful.

My phone is big enough as it is.
No need to make it bigger and clumsier while walking around getting navigation from it.

So you're going to be holding an android tethered to a USB charger while roaming the streets of a foreign city?
Too conspicuous/clumsy for me.
