See Moko's post upthread regarding US hechsherim and Tartaric acid (that they are miekel in general). Regarding Sprite itself, I believe they didn't change the ingredients here in the first place (cmiiw).

The ou (and others) do not consider tartaric acid as problematic. Sprite is under the hashgocha of the ou and I doubt they would disclose to you if there was a change in the formula. Rabbi Landau of Bnei Brak who certifies coke in EY recently put out a statement that the Sprite Zero in EY did not change and is not using the tartaric acid. In other parts of the world there obviously was a change.

From my understanding the issue is with Sprite zero not regular sprite.

Any kashrus concerns buying items made from recycled plastic?  Unclear if post-consumer or not.  Looking at Nalgene Sustain bottle, which is replacing the older version.  According to the website, "Our new Nalgene Sustain product line is made from material derived from 50% waste plastic (using ISCC certified mass balance), further offsetting the use of fossil fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions."

How many nonkosher flavors are there anyways?

I always ask them to see the box. I haven't seen any mismatched nor nonkosher flavors yet in my five plus years of doing so. (Some chalav Stam, though).

Your thoughts on Chalav Stam notwithstanding, I think all would agree that Chalav Stam is a problem if you are Fleishigs. So that is more than a little concerning.
