Re theme park popcorn and churros - this summer I confirmed with two nationally recognized kashrus experts that without knowing the full history of the machine, there is no way they see it to be allowed, current kosher product notwithstanding. They were both horrified that shomrei Torah umitzvos were being meikel in this.

This isn’t true halachikly, as something already cooked in an eino Ben yomo is permitted to purchase לכתחילה.

Can you or someone ese explain to me "why" stam keilim eino ben yomo would apply to a pot that we know was used yesterday? Like the store was open and served popcorn...
Or we know that the starbucks was open earlier today and yesterday and its not like they have hundreds of pots, what you see in the food prep areas is more or less all the keilim in the store (they might have a spare or two...)

I mean, I was told when I was in the camp kitchen i referenced earlier that stam keilim does not apply when we know that they dont have enough sheetpans and use all of them everyday.

It does not apply to such a case. However, all you  need to verify is the last 24 hours, not the

full history of the machine

You need to assume everything is used daily for its intended use. In camp the fleishig sheet pans are used for fleishigs daily. In Starbucks the equipment is used for kosher coffee daily. You can use stam keilim to assume the starbucks equipment wasn't washed in a way that makes it treif in the past 24 hours, because it needs a specific set of circumstances for that to happen. The same can be for popcorn, there is no need to assume there was treif used there in the past 24 hours.

For the purposes of buying coffee we only care about how many brew baskets they have. Apparently they have a few, and we don’t know that the one in use was washed with treif in the last 24 hours.

They are entitled to their opinion, but they are not the only arbiters of halachah. Rabbi Abadi has the shoulders to support his psakim, public opinion not withstanding. Additionally, he is far from the only one to allow concession popcorn.

I was referring to the kashrus experts, I assume you thought I was referring to Rabbi Abadi.
It's unfortunate that you jump to this when we're talking about a tremendous Talmid Chacham who not only has all the sources to back up his psak, but also understands the tzad issur better than you.

So you're agreeing that the popcorn is kosher? I thought you said the popcorn is treif.
